SOLIDWORKS continue to introduce powerful new AI tools for 2026 FD01 3D experience. Users can now leverage AI tools directly from the AI labs task pane to assist with and speed up everyday design workflows. Leo, the virtual companion, uses AI to propose an initial assembly structure for a top down design workflow, reducing the need to build the structure manually, generate an assembly structure from a simple prompt, then iterate with prompts to refine the structure until it matches your intent. You can remove or replace components, just hierarchy and more. And when you're ready, generate it as a SOLIDWORKS assembly and part files. With 2026 FD01. You can generate drawings even faster with AI. Last year, SOLIDWORKS introduced generative drawings, and now you have even greater control with the introduction of your new virtual design companion, Leo. To define specifications before the drawing is created, it's no longer a one size fits all result. You can set your template and standards. Choose a primary review and then refine with AI prompts. Check the drawing preview prompt for any changes and when it looks just right, generate the drawing and save it to your selected location. This results in drawings that match your standards, your intent, and your exact requirements without the usual manual setup. Work even smarter in 2026. SOLIDWORKS now gives you tips and recommendations to help you become more efficient with advanced SOLIDWORKS design functionality. Notifications provide short, action specific tips for workflows like creating configurations and opening product structure. Explore filters for component patterns. The assistant can actually create the component pan for you, helping you to leverage powerful SOLIDWORKS functionality with ease. When you're short on time, with important tasks yet complete, you can now use the escape key to quickly cancel from long running import diagnostic and mirror operations. So you can pick these tasks up again at a more suitable time and carry on with other design work. Through the experience users can have. Search and open filters are created in the Product Structure Explorer right from the open dialog box, and also from recent documents. With open filters, you can open assemblies faster, work on a specific subset of components without opening the entire assembly. Opening filters directly in SOLIDWORKS design makes it easier to work with large, complex assemblies by enabling selective loading for better performance and productivity. Starting with 2026 FD01. You now have more flexibility when installing SOLIDWORKS design and SOLIDWORKS. Visualize from 3D experience. When installing from the compass, you can choose how to install and update your apps, including staying on a specific version or installing multiple major versions side by side. In SOLIDWORKS design 2026, you will have the option to install 2025. Then in SOLIDWORKS design 2027 and beyond, you will be able to install the two previous versions. You no longer must upgrade on the platform schedule. You can stay on the version that works best for your team and update when it fits your workflows. 3D experience. Users can now use AI tools in the task pane to assist in workflows. Leverage the power of AI to help analyze and resolve errors found in your past models. Often, one design error can lead to any number of warnings in the What’s Wrong dialog box. Click Ask Virtual Companion to get assistance with interpreting problems in a part in the task pane. The Virtual Companion provides information on the probable causes of the failure and suggests ways to fix them. 2026 FD01 delivers enhancements to the UX design, home screen. Quickly return to your projects and manage your content with a more intuitive home screen. Access your recently opened files and my content directly from the landing page. Apply filters on top level assemblies, drawings, or 3D models to filter your content. Use the three dot menu for actions such as open item in new tab, create drawing from part view information or delete content. Jump back to the home screen any time using a new shortcut in the action bar. These improvements help you find your work faster, organize it with ease, and stay focused on designing.
