today we're going to be showcasing the new
and improved SWOOD Report
version three.
Since version two,
we've made a whole host of changes
based on client feedback and real world
industry requirements.
And over the next few minutes,
I'll be taking you
through the top new features
and improvements
that can be found in the new version,
and how they can be used to streamline
your reporting output.
So first up is customizability.
This version of the report has been
completely rebuilt from the ground up,
meaning it can now offer
unparalleled customization capabilities.
No longer
you boxed into a static list of pages
with limited changeable items
and V3 new pages can be added
and customized to suit
the precise needs of your company.
The new grid format
allows information to be displayed
on a page in movable and sizable cells.
This is both easy to understand
for the end user and easy to design
to show just the information that's
relevant to your processes on each page.
In addition,
new icon types have been introduced
to better communicate information
such as grain direction
and edge band location,
and the new interactive tick
cross indicator allows for easy
tracking of panel information,
such as whether they've been damaged
and need to be rerun.
This information can
then be grouped into a table
and exported.
Another new addition is conditional
filtering.
Any label, set or table in the report,
such as the panel list
here, can be filtered
by a variety of information
like material size or a specific custom
property found in the file.
If a filter is used often, it can be saved
as a new page to allow for easy access.
Also, buttons can be added to split
your table into different categories,
allowing only relevant
rows to be exported or printed.
Profiles give you the
ability to control the visibility of pages
for different end users,
allowing different departments
to only see the information
that's relevant to them.
For example, in this report, there's
a separate profile for the shop floor
to use, which filters the report down
to a list of programs to run on the CNC,
a picking list
page of items and quantities,
and a page for labels
to be checked and printed.
In addition, print groups can be defined
to allow different subsets
of report pages
to be printed at the click of a button.
This ensures consistency
and removes the need to spend time
printing and combining individual pages.
If multiple outputs are needed.
E drawings files for frames
and panels are now generated
when the report is run, and are embedded
directly within the HTML file.
This allows the design to be explored
in 3D on any device, and tools
such as measure and section view
can be used to gather data and information
about each panel, without the need
to refer back to the SolidWorks files.
Finally,
improvements have been made to the back
end of the reporting system, allowing
the data generation step to run up
to ten times faster than in V2.
In this large layout assembly of just over
a thousand components,
the report version
three runs 20s faster than it did in V2.
This translates
to a time improvement of 25%,
meaning less time spent waiting around
and more time spent designing.
