How to Install the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS

The Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role allows you to connect SOLIDWORKS to other applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform via the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in. Before installing the add-in, please ensure you have SOLIDWORKS installed on your computer. Expand the Compass in the top left of the platform to open your list of assigned roles and apps. Each role contains a set of apps. Clicking on a role shows all the apps contained within it. Locate the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role and the Design with SOLIDWORKS app. A pop up prompts you to download the 3DEXPERIENCE launcher. Follow the steps to install and click continue in the pop up. Once the installation has completed, click install all roles containing Design with SOLIDWORKS and proceed through the installation steps. We strongly recommend using the cloud eligibility check to ensure your machine's hardware is suitable for running cloud data management. Leave the installation location as default, then the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in will begin installing. Once finished, the design of SOLIDWORKS app can now be used to launch SOLIDWORKS from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. SOLIDWORKS can still be launched from the conventional desktop shortcuts. However, launching the design of SOLIDWORKS app ensures a smoother initial connection with cloud data management on the platform.
