How to Install SOLIDWORKS
View transcript
In this video will guide you through the installation of SOLIDWORKS. This installation must be performed whether you are installing desktop SOLIDWORKS or the Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Please note this is for standalone licenses of SOLIDWORKS. The installation process is different for network licensing or admin images. Firstly, we need to download the SOLIDWORKS Installation manager. You can find this on the SOLIDWORKS website. Log in with your 3DEXPERIENCE ID and download the latest version. Open the download once completed when you see the small grey window appear, click ‘Unzip’ and the installation manager will open automatically. On the welcome screen, select to install on this computer and proceed by clicking next. Then fill in any serial numbers to be used by this machine for other works to become an available installation product. You must provide a serial number for it under 3D design. The summary screen confirms which products will be installed while you're here. Be sure to modify your installation location and Toolbox folders to include the version yet as shown. This will help avoid confusion when you upgrade SOLIDWORKS in the future. Once you've agreed to the terms and conditions, you can proceed to download and install. You can revisit the installation manager at any time if you need to make changes. The download and installation process may take some time as the file set is large. On completion, SOLIDWORKS will be installed on your computer When opening SOLIDWORKS for the first time, the Activation Wizard will start. Select any products that require activation and choose the option to automatically activate over the internet. Once activated, SOLIDWORKS will be available to use.
