One of
the great advantages of the 3D experience
platform
is the functionality that it offers.
Non-CAD users
to work with modify CAD structures.
For example, here we have a assembly
and we wish to insert a part into it.
Traditionally, this would be done
with CAD, with all of the mating
and positioning,
but with the 3D experience platform,
it can be done directly inside a browser.
All we have to do once
we've got the assembly opened
in the engineering release application
is choose to insert either
a new product or an existing product.
If we choose to insert a new product,
we can also choose from template.
So we could supply our own SOLIDWORKS
templates
or other CAD templates as well.
Let's
go ahead and insert a existing product
and we'll
go ahead and search for a bracket.
once we've got that inserted,
we can
then go ahead and simply drag and drop
to reorder
the structure as per our requirement.
We can see that the end cap is listed
twice here.
We can also change two different views
in the engineering release widget.
So rather than usage view,
we can go to reference view
and we see that there are now two
specific instances there.
What we can also see
is that the revision of the bracket
that we inserted
is not the latest one available.
So again, the engineering
release widget provides
a very simple way to replace
what we've got by the latest revision.
It's a simple right click
and now we can see
we've got revision
two of our bracket inserted
and we can make sure that our assembly
is fully up to date.
Again, directly from here,
we can assign part numbers to ensure
that we're complying
with company requirement and directives.
Change the lifecycle of the Assembly
and again, insert
any additional items, documentation
or attachments as required.
So the engineering release widget
a great way to modify
and reorder an assembly structure
without needing access to CAD software.
