How to Save Files to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
View transcript
There are two main ways to save files when using SOLIDWORKS with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, save locally and save to 3DEXPERIENCE. In this scenario, we are currently modeling up a new handle for a grill. We have the option of saving the file locally or saving it to 3DEXPERIENCE at the same time. Here, we will save the file to our local machine and give it a name. Once saved, clicking the save icon in future will continue to save the file locally. Alternatively, we can save the file to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Saving using this method will update our local file and place a copy into the 3D space we are currently connected to. On the right hand side next to MySession, we can see that we are currently connected to a 3D space called 3DX Onboarding. There is also a button to save to 3DEXPERIENCE in the bottom of the task pane. Using this, we can see that subsequent saves give us the option to save the file into a bookmark on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Bookmarks act as a folder or filing system for our files being saved into 3DEXPERIENCE and are explored in more detail in another video. Let's save this file into our existing grill bookmark. Bookmarks are a great way of organizing our data within 3DEXPERIENCE, similar to how folders organize our Windows files.
