How to Rotate a Part
This video demonstrates how to rotate and reposition imported non-native parts in SOLIDWORKS using the Move/Copy Bodies tool. After importing a file, incorrect orientation can be corrected by rotating the geometry, such as 90 degrees along the X-axis. The tool also allows precise positioning by applying constraints like concentric and coincident mates between the part and the origin, ensuring proper alignment. Additionally, Move/Copy Bodies can create alternate configurations, such as rotating a chair’s backrest by 25 degrees for a reclined position, which can then be shown in drawings using alternate position views.
