Cooking the Perfect Christmas Pudding

January 15, 2026

This video uses SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation to determine the optimal cooling time for a Christmas pudding after steaming. The process begins by modelling the pudding and simulating heating in an oven at 160°C for one hour, accounting for heat conduction, gravity, and material properties. After reaching an average temperature of 157°C, a second simulation calculates cooling in a kitchen environment at 25°C, with goals set for the pudding to reach 40°C for safe consumption. Mesh refinement and transient analysis ensure accuracy. The result: allow approximately 22 minutes for cooling, though conditions like airflow and room temperature may affect timing.
