the larger panels, that would make up bedrooms and kitchens. where causing slight problems coming through the factory. More than slight. Hiya I'm Will Hall. Managing director Vanity Hall, we are bathroom furniture manufacturers based in the West Midlands. Our furniture range consists of three range relay, which is a VH two range, which is, a one mil chipboard. edge carcassing and doors, solid timber range, which is painted in any color so farrow and ball little greens. And then we've got, bespoke sides which will make any size, any shape. so our standard range on SWOOD consists of our bathroom furniture, I've got those all on their standard frames. Customers are allowed to order specials, but that will just consist of maybe a different width, height or depth change. For our bespoke range, we create kitchens, bathrooms and other bedrooms for high end residential This is custom fitted furniture, all created on SWOOD to be accommodated into that space. It could be something as simple as allowing the cabinetry for pipework, but it could be something to accommodate a TV. As for TV, media unit, air conditioning units, boiler housing, we also use SWOOD when creating cabinetry. we use SWOOD boxes. I think SWOOD are really good because it just stops you from needing to build something every single time. It's as easy as in dragging and dropping drawer boxes into the, the cabinets. Could be a special fixing, special runner a special hinge. They also have connectors, which we use a lot of dowling configurations. So rather than having to go through each panel and manually add dowel every time, we can create a series of dowels that will know fit a certain depth, and we can just quickly drag them across and into the cabinetry. So as soon as the cabinets are designed and we've pulled the SWOOD boxes in and we've put all the connectors in, it's pretty much ready for production. basicly the larger panels, that would make up bedrooms and kitchens. where causing slight problems coming through the factory. More than slight. it was at that point we decided to look at where the nesting was a facility rather than using the beam saw which obviously gave us another productive line to produce panels. prior to the edge bander that was one of the bottlenecks we had in the factory. We then started to look at what companies are out there to do that with, and Solid Solutions were the one that sort of lit our eyes up more than anyone else. So that's why we approached Solid Solutions. so the support from Solid Solutions has been great along the way. myself and the team went to the headquarters in Leamington for training, which was specifically for our group really. and they've tried to tailor it to our needs, even though they have their set course. They also said in advance, if we have anything in particular we want to focus on, they can try and fit that in, which was very helpful. once I was done, the guys came in, implemented all the software and installed this and got us up and running. They also created the post processes for all the machinery that will be running. So they've they've been really helpful. with initial startup because all the post processes need to be created. The guys come in sort of sets all up with the software. we send them a list of the machinery. They come in and have a look at the machines, just understand what needs to be done to get us up and running. support lines. Good. because they're there to answer any questions, whether it's sort of machinery related, design related, SOLIDWORKS related or SWOOD related there's always somebody there to answer your question, one of the reasons why we involve SOLIDWORKS prior to now, we were predominantly very, very, hand based as regards producing paperwork, obviously, we've got a computer system that does all the sales, all the processing person, wherever, but the actual paperwork counters the factory. 90% of that was produced by hand. Obviously, whenever there's a human involved, there's room for error. And that's not knocking anyone, cause I'll make more mistakes than most. we want to take that away from it. So initially we're looking at, We are using it on the bespoke side of the business, which is the kitchens and the bedroom side, which we are currently in the process of developing it on to the bathroom side. So it generates all the paperwork we require. So that was the reason we minimize minimizes risk of human error which also gives us consistency of of accuracy. Really. I think sometimes it's good to like, just see it in the space because you can on SolidWorks, you make the room so you can make that cool layout and you can see how the CAD physically fit. everyone's maths are good, everyone's got a calculator, but sometimes you do make mistakes. Don't get me wrong, we've made mistakes as well. But I feel like sometimes if you're just relying on, like a calculator and not, you can't visualize it other than like a pencil mark it also just gives us the ability to send the customer a screenshot, And then it also just allows us to create samples of designs. So like we've just mocked up a quick door sample for that particular project. One, to understand what it's going to look like to, to understand how it's going to be made. Then. Three they wanted to see the sample, we can be like, it's going to look like this. The main reason for moving forward with Solid Solutions was one. It gave us flexibility in the fact that we we could take on more specials more easily. It wasn't a project for one in particular individual. The system took care of some of the issues. That basically was down to one person initially. so that did vastly help. Or using the process of helping, and just as importantly, took the workload for the special products that we do away from a run of the mill machining time that we were getting very, very short of, predominantly the beam saw in the drilling machines. we have just introduced a new drilling machines to the system, as well as the flat bed that does the nesting, but it's just gives us that extra capacity, really, to go forward and grow the busines how we want to grow it, with a quality product, but still very, very adequate lead times. Main reason for going with Solid Solutions really giving us the flexibility and adaptability that we feel as a business We require.
