Getting Started
Templates and Sheet Formats
Setting up drawing templates in SOLIDWORKS begins with understanding the roles of drawing templates, sheet formats and custom property files. The template controls document settings, while the sheet format stores title blocks, borders and standard visual elements. Custom properties supply metadata that populates the title block. By placing all template‑related files in a dedicated SOLIDWORKS folder and updating file locations, drawings remain consistent. Editing the sheet format allows you to insert your company logo and details, then save it for reuse. When creating new drawings, custom properties automatically complete the title block, ensuring a uniform and professional output.
