Following the dramatic mid-air collision and crash at Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Noel Sharpe reached out to Solid Print3D for help to inspect the damaged aircraft to assist with restoration through 3D scanning.

To accurately and efficiently capture the geometry of the wreckage, we used the FreeScan Trak Nova 3D Scanner -a high-precision metrology-grade system designed for scanning large objects without the need for markers.

Thanks to its portable tracking system and outstanding accuracy (up to 0.02mm), the job was completed quickly and with exceptional detail, making it the ideal tool for this kind of real-world application.
