The Transport for London (TfL) Bus Safety Standard places stringent requirements on driver direct vision to improve the detection of vulnerable road users and enhance road safety across London's transport network. Traditionally, vision assessments have relied on physical prototypes and manual evaluation methods, making them costly and difficult to implement during the early stages of vehicle development.

TriMech Simulation Solutions has developed a simulation-led methodology that enables TfL-compliant vision assessments to be performed entirely within a virtual environment. By evaluating direct vision performance early in the design process, manufacturers can reduce development time, lower prototyping costs, and increase confidence in compliance before physical vehicles are built.

The methodology also supports rapid design iteration when compliance issues are identified, provides objective comparison of alternative vehicle concepts, and helps engineers identify vision-obstructing features at an early stage.
