Whilst we can create assembly level features
such as a whole series or an extruded cut
across multiple models,
features at the part level are far more powerful and versatile.
The new Intelligent Assistant in
SOLIDWORKS 2026 now recommends the superior
Make Multibody Part command when assembly features
might be better accomplished using tools at the
part level.
Rather than simply advising an alternative
method and leaving the user to manually switch
approaches,
the Assistant allows you to execute the command on the spot,
speeding up your workflow.
Your bend radius may change as your project evolves,
so it's important to be able to easily
adjust the parameters,
a core principle with SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal features.
This flexibility is now available
with the Convert to Sheet Metal tool.
When you convert a part,
call-outs show up on every bend,
making it easy to change them as needed.
Bends that have been modified will maintain their
custom size if the general bend radius is updated
within the Convert to Sheet Metal feature.
After you've finished the conversion,
you can now select
any individual bend and edit it as a singular feature,
without affecting the rest of the conversion.
This enhancement gives you quicker
access when bend changes are needed,
and reduces risk of changing unspecified bends.
