Introduction to SOLIDWORKS for Fabrication
The session demonstrates creating a welded frame in SOLIDWORKS using simple sketches, predefined structural sections and sheet metal tools. It shows defining geometry with dimensions, applying box and angle profiles and converting solid blocks into sheet metal with bends and reliefs. Material properties are assigned for weight and analysis. A detailed drawing is produced with views, sections, cut lists and annotations. Assemblies are built using casters and toolbox fasteners, with mates and collision checks ensuring correct movement. Virtual testing is performed through static and fatigue studies, assessing stresses, displacement, safety factors and predicted life, with automated reports generated.
