Getting Started

Getting started with SOLIDWORKS CAM - Part 2

January 15, 2026

This video demonstrates how SOLIDWORKS CAM automatically extracts machinable features and assigns strategies such as roughing and finishing based on the technology database. It shows how to generate operation plans, resolve tool warnings, and create toolpaths for faces, perimeters, pockets and holes. The simulation tools reveal unnecessary moves, missing depths and excess finishing passes, which are corrected by editing feature end conditions and toolpath parameters. The video also covers creating a manual curve feature for chamfering edges, assigning a chamfer tool and generating the corresponding contour toolpath. It concludes with post‑processing, producing NC code and validating it through backplot and simulation.
