Convert DWG or DXF to SW Sheet Format
Opening a DWG or DXF in SOLIDWORKS begins with the Import Wizard, where you choose to create a new drawing and convert all geometry into SOLIDWORKS entities. You can select which layers to import, assign the title‑block layer to the sheet format and set the paper size, units and template. Once imported, editing the sheet format allows you to explode the block, adjust colours, modify fonts and tidy the layout. After saving the finished sheet format, SOLIDWORKS makes it available when creating new drawings, and you can also save a complete drawing template that includes the converted format.
